Mrs. Joyce Sloan

It is with heartfelt sympathy, the management and staff of Luke Strong and Son Mortuary, Ltd. are saddened to announce the passing of Mrs. Joyce Sloan, 73, of Moultrie, Georgia, daughter of the late Jimmie Mahone and the late Beddie Daniels, peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Georgia. Through love and kindness, Joyce dedicated her life to enriching and molding the minds of children by instilling in them a “Can Do.” She was a proud graduate of William Bryant High School, class of 1968. She received an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Ashford University. She was a devoted member of St. James Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she formerly served as Youth Sunday School Teacher and Church Secretary. She worked many years in early childhood education. She began her career at Southwest Georgia Community Action Council, Culbertson Head Start in September 1973 and worked for over 40 years and the Colquitt County School System, at Willie J. Williams Middle School for over 10 years. She was a member of the Gladiators. In her spare; she enjoyed reading, going to church and spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Verlene Murphy and Gwendolyn Sears. She leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons, Reverend Dr. Carlos McCloud of Macon, Georgia and Stanley McCloud (Stacy) of Moultrie, Georgia; two daughters, Donetta Rhodes (Cedric) of Albany, Georgia and Leslie Sloan-Williams (Fredrick) of Moultrie, Georgia; six grandchildren, Rakeem McCloud (Matavia) of Valdosta, Juantavion Williams of Moultrie, Georgia, Jaiden Williams of Fort Valley, Georgia, Jamaiyan Rhodes of Carrollton, Georgia, Jujuan Williams of Tifton, Georgia and Morgan Rhodes of Columbus, Georgia; five great-grandchildren, NyKing Ponder, Aliyah Williams, and Kai’Zir Williams all of Moultrie, Georgia, Braxton Williams of Tifton, Georgia and Cayden Johnson of Valdosta, Georgia; beloved nephews, Raymond Murphy, Jr. (Loretta) of Columbus, Georgia, Reverend Ronald W. Sears, III (Michelle) of Newport News, Virginia, Zavon Murphy of Brooklyn, New York; cherished friends, Sandra Robinson, Meritta Patillo, Rachel Green and Penny Hargraves and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
