Minnie Mapp
July 7, 1942 - April 5, 2019
Mrs. Minnie Nunn Mapp was born on July 7, 1942 in Toomsuba, Mississippi to the late Edward Nunn, Sr and the late Annie Mae Short Nunn. Minnie transitioned her earthly home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 5, 2019 at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. She attended William Bryant High School and Albany State College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. She also obtained a master’s degree in Chemistry from Georgia Southwestern in Americus. Mrs. Mapp was employed at BEFA (Community Action Council), Mitchell County Board of Education and Colquitt County Board of Education where she retired after 30+ years of service. She also worked as an Insurance and Investment Broker at Primerica Insurance Agency. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where she diligently worked for 70 years. During those years she served on the gospel choir, Women’s Auxiliary and held the position of Financial Secretary for more than 40 years. She was a life member of Colquitt County Branch of NAACP, where she served as the president for 8 years. Mrs. Mapp enjoyed socializing with family, friends and being a blessing to others. She was preceded in death by her parents; and oldest brother, Edward Nunn, Jr. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her husband of 57 years, Odell Mapp of Moultrie, Georgia; son, Odell LeWayne Mapp (Kimberly) of Hagerstown, Maryland; daughter, Natasha Mapp of Moultrie, Georgia; sister, Isabella Brooks of Moultrie, Georgia; grandchildren, Deion Mapp, Atarah Mapp, and Caleb Mapp all of Moultrie, Georgia, Alexander Mapp and Austin Mapp both of Hagerstown, Maryland; nephews, Derry Brooks (Janie) of Mobile, Alabama, Zel Head of Dallas, Texas and Allen Brooks (Christine) of Albany, Georgia; nieces, Sharon Alexander of Canton, Ohio and Cheryl Bridges (John) of Moultrie, Georgia; god-children, Joseph Robertson, Sherrod Cooper, Sr., Mario Newcomb, Quentin Daniels, Teniki Doe, and Shannon Hosey, and a host of other relatives and friends.
