Deacon Virgil Banks was born on May 7, 1959 in Moultrie, Georgia to Thelma Hill Banks and the late Frank Banks, Jr. Deacon Banks transitioned from his earthly home on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at his residence. Deacon Banks was employed with Proctor and Gamble as a Tech from 1996 until his health failed. He was a faithful member of First African Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Willie Love where he was a Deacon of the church. He was a member of the OK Barber Shop Checker Club; coached the Doerun Dodgers Softball team; enjoyed fishing, checkers and yard work. He graduated from Doerun High School Class of 1977; and later further his education and graduated from Albany State College in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education. He was preceded in death by his father; and 2 brothers, Willie James Banks and Ricky Lamar Banks. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 32 years Valerie “Lynn” Irvin Banks of Doerun, Georgia; mother, Thelma Hill Banks of Moultrie, Georgia; 2 daughters, Megan (Anthony) Shipp of Sylvester, Georgia, and Adrienne Banks of Doerun, Georgia; son, Kwaki Copeland of Doerun, Georgia; 3 brothers, Andrew Banks and Johnny (Belinda) Banks both of Moultrie, Georgia and Sterling (Tammy) Pitman of Atlanta, Georgia; 2 sisters, Zell Banks-Daniels of Doerun, Georgia and Melissa Pittman of Moultrie, Georgia; grandchildren, Arian Pace and Cayson Shipp; 3 sisters-in-law, Shelia Jackson of Doerun, Georgia, Jeanette Douglas of Sylvester, Georgia and Barbara Salaam of Albany, Georgia; god sister-in-law, Traci (Stacey) Williams of Moultrie, Georgia; special niece, Rowena Daniels of Albany, Georgia; special cousins, Lavoski (Dorothy) Munford and Jocelyn (Jamie) Spates both of Jacksonville, Florida; special friend and co-worker Amanda Brown of Albany, Georgia; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and coworkers at Proctor and Gamble
