Mr. John D. Ellison

It is with heartfelt sympathy, the management and staff of Luke Strong and Son Mortuary, Ltd. are saddened to announce the passing of Mr. John D. Ellison, 69, of Albany, Georgia. He was born on July 13, 1953, the eighth child of the late Bobby Hayes Ellison and Inez Anderson Ellison. John attended Colquitt County Schools and graduated from Doerun High School in 1971. John continued his education by attending Moultrie Area Tech where he received a diploma in Automotive Repair and Collision. He later retired from Albany Marine Base where he worked as a painter and signage technician. John deeply loved his family and friends and loved to gather. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, traveling and restoring cars. He was a member of Christian Life Missionary Baptist Church in Albany, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carolyn Ellison; five brothers, Eddie Ellison, MacArthur Ellison, Bobby Hayes Ellison, Jr., Silas Chester Jackson and Curtis Jackson; three sisters, Emma L. Ellison Tuff, Tannie L. Ellison, and Leila Ellison. John gently passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his current wife, Gwendolyn Ellison, seven daughters, Christie Selena Boatwright (John) of Norman Park, Georgia; Onida Jolly of Norman Park, Georgia; Tambrea Ellison, MD of Valdosta, Georgia; Pretrevis Ellison of Locust Grove, Georgia; Shontara Elliott of Conyers, Georgia, Nateya Singletary (Roscoe) of Moultrie, Georgia and Isheka Ellison (Kendrick) of Albany, Georgia; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Eloise Irving of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Bobbie Jackson of Doerun, Georgia; Diann Johnson (Bobby) of Sylvester, Georgia and Myrtice Whaley (Danny) of Norman Park, Georgia; four brothers, Charles Ellison (Chad) of Tampa Florida; Coatsey Ellison, JD (Rogena) of Lake Spivey, Georgia; Herman Ellison (Jan) of Atlanta, Georgia, and David Jackson of Moultrie, Georgia and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral will be held at Christian Life Missionary Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Strong Memorial Garden in Moultrie, Georgia.
